Hamburger Steak

Bobby and Jamie Deen are just the bomb in my book! Every time they come out with a new magazine, I run to the store and pick it up, go through it and have 2/3 of the recipes dog eared. This recipe came from their Winter 2012 edition and it is pure comfort food, and is easy to boot…

Hamburger Steak

Ingredients:

2 pounds ground chuck
1 (1 ounce) package dry onion soup mix
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 onion-thinly sliced
2 cloves garlic-minced
1 (14 ounce) can reduced-sodium beef broth
1 (.75 ounce) package brown gravy mix

Directions:

In a large bowl, combine ground chuck, onion soup mix and Worcestershire sauce. SHape mixture into 6 patties.
In a large skillet, cook patties over medium heat for about 6 minutes per side or until browned. Drain skillet, reserving 1 tablespoons drippings in skillet. Add onion and garlic to skillet; cook over medium heat, stirring frequently for 8 minutes or until onions are tender.
In a small bowl, combine broth and gravy mix, whisking until smooth. Add broth mixture and patties to onion mixture in skillet. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat; reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes or until gravy gets thick and patties are warmed through.

Hey Annie, love the new blog format. Thanks for coming by my blog and sure I think a she made/she redid type of Food network layout would be interesting.

We can try one and see how it goes….so, if you want, send me your most indulgent savory dish and next week when the Nudge is away on business I can mess around and see what I come up with.

At least it would be one less recipe to reload into WordPress….lol

This looks amazing! My hubby would love it! I haven’t eaten “Hamburger Steak” at different restaurants in Texas but haven’t made it in years. I will give this a try!

I keep forgetting about their magazine – can’t remember if I’ve ever picked one up to be honest. I can say that hamburger steak is one of our favorite comfort foods & that picture is sure making me hungry for it!

Hamburgers are usually a feature of fast food restaurants. The hamburgers served in major fast food establishments are usually mass-produced in factories and frozen for delivery to the site. These hamburgers are thin and of uniform thickness, differing from the traditional American hamburger prepared in homes and conventional restaurants, which is thicker and prepared by hand from ground beef. ^
