Eggnog

Have you ever had an eggnog that you didn’t like?  Well, I have.  I was truly disappointed with the premade one that I bought at the market last year, so I searched for months now to find this easy, super good eggnog!  The Oprah magazine had this one in the November, 2010 issue and it is a sure thing…

Eggnog

INGREDIENTS:

3 eggs
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/ cups milk
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg, plus garnish
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup heavy cream, softly whipped
Liquor (such as brandy, bourban, whiskey, and rum)

DIRECTIONS:

In a heavy saucepan, whisk together eggs and sugar until well blended; whisk in milk.  Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon, until mixture thickens and reaches 140 degrees on a candy thermometer, about 5 minutes.  Strain into a bowl; stir in nutmeg and vanilla.  Cover and refrigerate until chilled.  When ready to serve, fold in whipped cream.  Serve in a punch bowl, sprinkled with nutmeg, and with alcohol on the side.

This looks terrific and it's perfect for the coming holidays. I found you by chance but will be back often to see what else you've been cooking up. Have a great day. Blessings…Mary

Every year I try eggnog and every year I say "I will never do that again" only to do the same exact thing the following year. Maybe I just have not been drinking the right kind. This does look good and it reminds me so much of Christmas.

I have actually never had eggnog before. It just screams the holidays though.

I can never decide if I like eggnog or not. I should, I mean what's not to like? It's all creamy and yummy looking and sometimes it's even got booze in it. Ok, I'll give it another try…

    Lots of yummy love,
