Norwood Pines Stuffed Filet

The other night we went to our favorite local supper club Norwood Pines and Chef John was whipping up this creation–Stuffed Filet.  Oh my, he had me at “stuffed”  and then add “filet” and stick a fork in me, I had to try this.
He first seared the filet (which was ginormous) then cracked it open and stuffed it with sauted mushrooms, asparagus, onions, bacon and gorgonzola cheese.  Then baked it until done.  He served it over a burgandy sauce and with a baked potato on the side.  It was HEAVENLY!!  The biggest problem–I couldn’t even eat half of it, but have no fear we took it home and the Youngest fried it up the next day for a snack, now that’s what I’m talkin’ about!
If you’re ever visiting the Northwoods of Wisconsin, Norwood Pines Supper Club is something to put on your to-do list!  In the summer you can eat out on their screened porch, while deer graze out the window and in the winter you can get all cozy by the rip-roaring fire!  And if you’re lucky, you may even get a glance of the resident ghost…
And if you go, ask if either of my sons is working that night, they’re super cute!

    Anne! You didn't tell me you lived in Wisconsin! I grew up there. Mostly in Appleton and Menomonee Falls, but my grandparents also had a cottage in Manitowish Waters where we spent most of our holidays and summers. It's so beautiful up there. I miss it!

    My husband would kill for that steak btw. That's his dream dinner right there!
