Chicago Dogs 101
Have you ever been to Chicago and had a “hot dog”? Well, there is nothing like them! Hubby is a true “Chicago” boy (OK, not quite Chicago, but close, very close). The other night we were kid-less and found ourselves craving something, but not quite sure what it was. We were having movie night and were watching “The Hard Way” with Michael J. Fox and James Woods. A truly funny early 90’s movie that we hadn’t seen in forever. In it James Woods’ character buys a Chicago dog from a street vendor, that was all we needed–out into the snowy night we went to the market to get the fixin’s
for the best dogs ever!! Well worth the wait, when you consider we had to preheat the oven and make french fries on the side that seemed to take forever!
1 package All Beef Franks
1 package the best buns you can find
pickles-sliced thinly, long-wise
celery salt to taste
Boil hot dogs in simmering water. Cut open buns and start adding the condiments. When hot dogs are done, remove from water and let dry so they aren’t wet when you put them in the bun. Add hot dog to bun, top with the sport peppers and season with celery salt. There you have it, our version of Chicago Dogs 101.
